Level 1 QiCalm is for Children 7+. Qigong practices can be classified as martial, medical, or spiritual. All styles have three things in common: they all involve a posture, (whether moving or stationary), breathing techniques, and mental focus. Some practices increase the Qi; others circulate it, use it to cleanse and heal the body, store it, or emit Qi to help heal others. Practices vary from the soft internal styles such as Tai Chi; to the external, vigorous styles such as Kung Fu. However, the slow gentle movements of most Qigong forms can be easily adapted, even for the physically challenged and can be practiced by all age groups.

With a focus on dancers and athletes, Alexis seeks to help her clients gain better physical awareness to prevent injury and maintain a healthy, long lasting conditioning practice. Students can expect to leave class understanding and knowing their bodies better, so that they can move forward in their training and lives as a stronger and happier version of themselves. In Alexis' class, alignment is key to success; we must find alignment before we can do any exercise. Alexis’ teaching style is a combination of fluid movements and strong purposeful gestures, and her class offers a diverse array of Pilates and dance related training. She is interested in enhancing others’ physical well-being, as well as their mental and emotional health through movement, discipline and growth. Alexis is committed to share the gift of pilates with as many people as possible!
